About Course

This course is a program that prepares pharmacists to provide specialized care for older adults with complex medication needs. The course covers the topics and skills required for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Geriatric Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCGP) examination. The course is designed for pharmacists who have at least four years of geriatric pharmacy practice experience, or who have completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency and have at least two years of geriatric pharmacy practice experience. The course may also be useful for pharmacists who want to update their knowledge and skills in geriatric pharmacy. The CGP course is a valuable resource for pharmacists who want to advance their career and demonstrate their expertise in geriatric pharmacy.

Eligibilities

To become a CGP, one must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Graduation from an accredited pharmacy program or a program that qualifies the individual to practice in their jurisdiction.
A current, active license to practice pharmacy in the U.S. or another jurisdiction.
At least four years of geriatric pharmacy practice experience within the past seven years, with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline; or
Successful completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency within the past seven years, plus at least two years of geriatric pharmacy practice experience with at least 50% of time spent in the scope defined by the exam content outline; or
Successful completion of a PGY2 pharmacy residency in geriatrics within the past seven years.
